Since moving to Las Vegas in 2000, Derek Parent has made numerous sacrifices to help and fund the growth of the city and it's communities. In addition to owning and managing one of the area’s most reputable and successful mortgage firms, Parent also owns Movement Fitness, a full-service gym and sports training facility. He is devoted to blending his passion for giving back with his career goal of creating positive experiences for people seeking mortgages.
An expert on one of the nation’s most unique real estate markets, Parent has experienced the ups and downs of the area’s volatility over the years. He and his team have re-established traditional financing options for over 250 condominium projects—ranging from $70,000 to $3 million—throughout the region. Their expertise spans single-family homes and condos to primary residences and investment properties. Providing less stress and earning the trust of his clients is his mantra, as he and his team focus every day on providing extraordinary service.
In 2020, Derek bought a health club and started Movement Fitness. With the goal to create community in the fitness world and help give back, Movement Fitness has been an amazing vessel of opportunity to do just that. The full service gym welcomes all from the youth, elderly members, sports teams in need in training, and anyone in between. All the profits from movement fitness go back into the community through the Movement Gives Foundation, a charitable foundation that makes a positive impact on the lives of those underserved in the community.
In the fall of 2023, Derek also adopted Chaparral High School. With this partnership, Derek and his team provides mentorship and financial literacy programs for young adults and high school students through work experience opportunities within his companies.
With all that Derek has done for the community, and all that he strives to continue to do, it is no wonder he was recently elected as a Board Member of Nevada's Workforce Connections. Derek has shown continuous support and truly believes in the impact that Workforce has created. As an extra step to this commitment, Derek welcomed the first EmployNV Youth Hub inside Movement Fitness. Parent and Workforce Connections are both proud of this achievement as it is the first American Job Center hosted in a privately funded business in the nation.
